We've all seen "historical" films that have nothing to do with history. The speech comes more from 1986 then 1886, the clothes are all wrong and the medieval knight has tennis shoes on while he's on a horse. Or pick some historical errors.
But "historical" stories are generally loaded with some pretty ridiculous errors.
For this story, I want you to write a historical story and do everything you can to keep it as historically accurate as possible.
For some time periods (generally either ones that weren't literate or ones that happened a very very long time ago), it could be quite difficult as there are few extant documents or little evidence. And the same issue might happen with stories set among people in the lower classes. In this case, you get a bit more leeway but you still have to keep things as close to history as you can.
In terms of region, try to stay close to it, though this might be difficult. And try to draw from the same time period.
