Throughout the history of countries with a separation of powers, there have been a myriad of proposed laws.
For this prompt, imagine that one of the proposed laws that never passed actually made it through and became the law of the land.
Or a Court ruling set a differnet precedent. Imagine the shape of American politics if the court had ruled differently in Roe v. Wade.
Or a law that hadn't been enforced for years but remained in the books is actually enforced (and constitutional).
What are some failed laws you can think of?

Since I'm American, I guess this list would focus on American things. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_proposed_amendments_to_the_United_States_ConstitutionRoe v. Wade Engel v. Vitale Plessy v. Ferguson Brown v. Board of Education Others Army never changed to an all volunteer force in 1973. Prohibition never passed or Prohibition never rescinded. Constituion made to be closer to State's Rights rather then Federalism. Federal Drug Law never passed. Andrew Johnson removed from office (he was 1 vote shy). Women receive the right to vote earlier, later or not at all. De Facto Censorship board for film not seen as enough, government appointed board created. And trust me, they came really damn close to doing this more then once.

hmm...what about laws or changes that seem impossible but COULD happen? Like Microsoft taking control of most of the internet?
